Use the steps below if you are having trouble removing any Brother printer software, or if you are installing but not all the software selection options are showing up.
Step 1: Run Brother Removal Tool.
- After visiting the link you will have to select your printer model. When you run the downloaded file it will extract a folder called "rempnp" in the same folder you saved the download. From here, run the "BrRemPnP" application.
- This process should remove all drivers and software.
Step 2: Manually remove fragments of Brother software and drivers.
- in "Devices & Printers", click on any printer, then click the "Print Server Properties" at the top - remove all Brother entries, with their driver package
- delete all "Brother", "Browny" and "Control Center" folders from Program Files, Program Files (x86) and ProgramData areas if they exist (may have to End Task on all Control Center & Brother processes)
- go to C:\Windows\TWAIN or Twain_32 and delete and folders in there that appear to have Brother entries
- in regedit, delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Brother folder
- in regedit, delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Brother folder
- in regedit, deleted HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Brother folder
- in Device Manager, remove any existing Brother "Imaging Devices" and "Print queues" - choose to Delete Drivers
- if using Windows 10, make sure there are no Brother printers in the new Printers interface
- reboot computer before trying to run installer again
