Block Notifications from Chrome

Modified on Fri, Jan 27, 2023 at 8:51 AM

If you are getting unwanted pop-ups at the bottom right corner of your computer, (by the date & time), it might be due to some Google Chrome notification settings.  Give this a try.

1. Open the Chrome Internet browser on your computer.

Tip: Chrome logo looks like this:

2. At the top right, click the 3 dots, just below the X to close the program.

3. Click on "Settings".

4. In the top "Search Settings" box, type "notifications".

5. Click on "Site Settings".

6. Click on "Notifications".

7. Look at the "Allow" section and see if there are any entries in the list that appear to match the pop-ups you are receiving - or for any entries that you don't want to send you notifications.

8. To the right of the website, click the 3 dots, and then click "Remove".

Hopefully that's all you need to get rid of those annoying pop-ups.

How to prevent these notifications from coming up in the first place.

If you don't want these to show up in the first place, be aware of "Show notifications" prompts while browsing the Internet.  If you get these, in most cases either just click on "Block" if you never want this message again from this site, or close the little window with the X.  If you click "Allow" you will get those pop-ups.  Note: Sometimes you will want notifications from sites (such as for email notifications even when not specifically on your webmail site) -  but just beware of what ones you allow.
